Emilio Rodriguez Cerezo is an Agronomist, PhD in Plant Molecular Pathology. He was elected member of the Scientific Committee for Plants of the EU for the period 1997-99 where he evaluated scientifically dossiers for placing in the market GMOs for EU agriculture. He was a tenured scientist in the Centro Nacional de Biotecnologia (CSIC) in Madrid (1993-1999) and has over 35 refereed papers published. He joined the Food and Veterinary Office of the EU in 2000 and was in charge of the program of inspections on compliance with GM food legislation. He moved to IPTS in July 2001 to lead the Life Sciences Group.
