DG SANCO held its first Nanotechnology Safety Seminar

On October 25-26 2007, the European Directorate General for Health and Consumer Protection (DG SANCO) held in Brussels its first nanotechnology safety seminar, titled: "1st Annual Nanotechnology Safety for Success Dialogue: the Food, Consumer, and Health Policy Perspective".
The seminar's main goal was to stimulate an exchange of views between key stakeholders. The workshop review applications, risk assessment, risk management, and perceptions with respect to application of nanoscience and nanotechnologies to food, consumer products and health. Presentations are now avalaible on line and include: Food applications of nanoscience and nanotechnologies ; Consumer products applications of nanoscience and nanotechnologies ; Health applications of nanoscience and nanotechnologies ; Nanotechnology risk assessment: Knowns and unknowns ; Nanomaterials. Risk assessment needs ; The EU perspective on policy and regulatory aspects ; Nanotechnology and the US Food and Drug Administration ; The consumer perspective on applications of nanoscience and nanotechnologies.
